EFT is the preeminent, empirically validated couples therapy (and likely soon for individuals and families too!) that helps 70-75% of couples according to the research. But that doesn’t explain WHAT EFT is…
To try and distill EFT into an adequate and coherent statement, I’d say something like:
EFT is a way to make sense of all our emotions related to our romantic partner and how to use them to strengthen safety, trust, connection and intimacy.
Aaron Fullmer, LMFT
If you are struggling with loneliness, conflict and/or insecurity in your romantic relationships, you don’t have to! Your current partner can very likely meet your relational needs if you’re willing to risk sharing your more vulnerable fears about your own (perceived) inadequacies or fears about your partners interest in and commitment to you.
